Let’s talk about Secret of Mana Plus!

I love the hack, i cannot wait for 3.0

I would like to see an expansion of undines cave, also tasnica could have an expansion, i would love to see the old town overrun by enemies, some NPCs in tasnicca mention that the town was taken by the empire 15 years ago, (maybe it could have a temple like pandora and northtown with a superboss as a expansion to the sidequest with the ruins)

Tasnica is definitely a bit small as it is in the vanilla game. I will probably try to remedy it at some point.

Also Queue did an abandoned countryside city for Tasnica for Turbo.

Yes, i forgot turbo has a version, but there is nothing realy to do neither is it connected to the castle. i would suggest a bridge from the plattform where you land with flamie (i think it is supposed to be a kind of harbor)? Maybe it could also be connect it to the lofty mountains.

One other thing i would also like to see from turbo is the UI, since you can see the mp without opening the menu, wich is allways pretty usefull.

Other idea i would have for Tasnica is a Ruins, wich could be linked to Cyrus (the guy you added to the ruins). He mentioned a dark deity, wich screams Anise for me (the dark counterpart to the mana goddess in multiple managames). She was a Mana Maiden who was  Sealed in Mavolia (Hell) and sworn revenge on the mana goddess. In Heroes of Mana it is stated that her followers used "mirrors of Esnia (Anise backwards)" to let her influence leaders of some nations and turn them evil, wich i think could also be happen to the empire in secret of mana (maybe in the added room in the castle there could also be a mirror?) wich would explain why the empire became evil (some NPCs stated it was suddenly corrupted shortly before the war against Tasnica and Pandora and would be a nice connection. Maybe Thanatos was a follower of her, it was stated he sold his soul to Mavolia, wich could also be Anise and the famous unused could be used for her followers?

If a costume Sprite would be to much work i think the top right sprite in ?updated=1460957794 could be recolored for her? As bossfight maybe a recolored Hexas could work? Or she could transform into a black dragon, wich could also link to Aeve Zahala, the superboss of Visions of Mana who is said to be created by an acient wich, wich alot of people allready linked to Anise

I've just played through most of v2.03 and I just wanted to say thank you and share a couple of thoughts. Secret of Mana is probably my #1 game of all time and I've been playing it on and off since '94 or '95. I really think you did an admirable job with fleshing out most of the parts of the game that felt rushed/unfinished. Especially the Wind and Moon temples are just awesome and fit so well into the game. So, huge thank you for all the work on this excellent hack, it really made for a fresh and fun playthrough this time around!

I agree with the above posters that if there is one part left in the game that feels empty, it's Tasnica. Not only is the castle questline very underwhelming, Tasnica is supposed to be a big republic and the counterpart to the Empire yet it's just... a castle? No town, even? Always felt weird.

I also have a couple of bug reports (SPOILERS BELOW!):

1. I saw it recently, it will be corrected in next version.

2. It's tricky to switch from version 1 to version 2. It will most likely mess with your weapon inventory, and might cause problem to other in game flags. It should not be possible to experience the story in the order you did.

3. Oh I need to correct that! You might wanna visit Pandora's treasure room before attempting this again, opening a few chests might help. I coded a flag wrong.

Another connection between Thanatos and Anise is in Dawn of Mana Anises Demon followers were called thanatos, so it make sense that Thanatos would become one when he sold his sould for the power of one. They also have the power to turn others into "Grimslies" wich would explain how the others got their Monsterforms. I kinda like that connection

I also think that after you beat Anise and freed Tasnica maybe the town could get repopulated. It could be a nice moment to free the country from the empire siege and the vendor there could maybe sell some of the Mana fortress armor stuff (new stronger armors would maybe break the game to much).

Thanks! This worked. I hadn't gone to the treasure room (I always forget...) and there was a single chest left with 50 GP in it. After opening that, the quest worked.

I was also thinking about how to put her into the story without overshadowing thanatos.

One idea was to make him someone who left the anise cult to get the power for his own (anise could say once "im done i will take care of him" or something), so its a seperate evil faction wich would make it easy to add in an optional postgame, since the story would not have to be altered, but still would lead to the chance to add a little bit more backstory to thanatos

Naother idea would be to make it like in DQ4 where the evil guys try to revive the old evil superdemon just so we can slay him and they do their plan without him anyways but that would maybe make hanatos to a minion
